Healing
(8"x8") What does healing look like to you? To me, healing is taking the steps needed towards closing our open wounds. Or at least as closed as we can get them. There will likely still be scars. But that healing will not take place if we don't take care of the wound in the first place. Some wounds are not easily recognizable. Some we've grown so accustomed to that the gaping hole in ourselves feels natural, or like it was always there. It was not. These wounds were formed over time of damage. These wounds shaped us into who we are, for better or worse. But if we intend to change ourselves for the better, we must take the steps necessary to take care. We must protect ourselves from further damage so that we may continue to heal. Most importantly, healing begets more healing and growth. When I started drawing this aloe plant, I thought about what I wanted it to say. And since aloe is a naturally healing plant, I tried to determine what healing would look like. For me that was illustrating the power of healing causing new growth via the roots connecting all of it. And the power within those roots. The power within the growth.
